Thanks! The little heathens have almost made it out of the brooder already, at just a week old. The first one to hatch is the ringleader and keeps pacing, looking up at the edge, then jumping, LOL.

Just found this thread. I'm new to Delawares and loving them! Mine are from Sandhill, born last June 15. I have no idea how close they are to the standard for the breed. They are friendly, active and great layers!

Kim, the hen on the bottom right is delightful - if you want some info on the Standard, go to the Delaware club site, they have pics and part of the written standard on there - its in my signature line or byline or whatever you call it.
Lisa, our evaluator says from the top, straight over the chicken, and front, back and side shots AT THE LEVEL of the chicken, so they are straight angled - means you gotta scrunch down and hope your kids don't crawl all over you-

Nick, the only one I'm sure about being a male is the first one--look at that big comb! I'd love for you to have at least three pullets from that batch, how cool would that be? Yes, I believe yours all belong to Georgie and so do the three in my brooder. There are two of Ellie's and three more of Georgie's in the bator on Day 19 today. Hope Ellie's hatch, especially.
