Thank you Kathy! I was beginning to feel awfully ignored.
I just got this roo and boy is he pink legged. I've never seen it on my marans roos legs, but I am guessing that is because they are dark already. However on a yellow legged delaware - - - it is really noticable. This boy does some crazy "s" motion of his head whenever I come around too. . . . I suspect this is hormone / body language issue ( like warning me to stay away).

I've done the usual - - worming and dipping and inspecting. . . He is in quarantine and will stay there for 30 days . .. . I hope he gets over the "S" shaking of his head when I finally give him some hens.

I have a welsummer rooster that does that crazy S shaking of his head too. I was wondering what that was all about. He definately respects me as being the one in charge.

Bet his wattles itch. Roosters tend to do that Stevie Wonder impression for some reason.

Well he did get a bit of frostbite even though I was very diligent about putting the vaseline on them. He had very large wattles.

All my other roosters were raised by me from chicks . . . They have NEVER felt the urge to do any Stevie Wonder impressions. I am guessing because I have always been alpha rooster and I have always been a GENTLE alpha rooster - - - I teach respect, not fear.

I am guessing the new guy is just really really unsure what to think about me. . . . .

My Del grow-outs are turning 9 weeks old on Friday. As their coop construction begins, they are getting a tad too big for their current pen. They'll have to be moved with the big fat scary ladies on Friday. This should go okay, since they already know each other and get along very nicely.

I got my camera fixed, and have a TON of photos uploading to my computer as I type. Will post them later. I also have one that I need gender help with. Female body, small comb, but the comb is very red and it does not have nice barring on the tail. I don't think I'll go off the barring thing, though, since I have a definite male with great barring and a definite female with no barring, yet another female with great barring. Confusing.

I have seen some male delawares with barring on the tail that had the white around the edges too. Is this OK, DQ, or just a fault?
