I absolutely love the first hen with the dark face!! What kind is she? The other ones are nice too but the really black face on that first one is what I really like- I guess maybe because it so unusual

All depends on what you are wanting. In the old day's, they had other reasons for crossing. But now, I would say the only use would be to make a interesting looking grade just to have around, possibly giving the American/Old English calmer personalities, a taller/more muscular build. But other than that, I can't think of much. Either way, I would say you couldn't call them pure stuff, but they would be interesting crosses.

The reason I wanted to know was I have what I believe is a trio and thought maybe my brother-in-law (who has OEG) would take the cockerel if I could make a case for it. I'll tell him he can make an "interesting mix"

. But I'd rather keep him if I can.

Since I have other breeds which are docile, Barred Rocks and Marans and they all free-range I was afraid that this little Oriental Game would grow up and terrorize and kill My Rock and Marans roosters, so I was thinking about rehoming him. But maybe I won't need to. Tell me what you think. Here is my situation:

As I said, everyone free ranges, and they have 40 acres to do it, though I doubt they range over 2 acres. There are 2 coops about 100 feet apart and the games roost in one and the Rocks and Marans in the other.

My question is, since they are not confined together and they have plenty of space will the lone game rooster still hunt down and kill the others?

By the way, here is what they look like. They are 5 weeks old. Do you agree they are a trio?

All three:

and the possible cockerel:

Kinda hard to tell the sexes by the pics. As long as you start free ranging them all together by 4-5 months, there should be no problems. The stag will submit to the older cocks at that time, but will eventually take over as big cahoona. It just won`t be as violent as it would if he was more mature. Nice looking chicks..........Pop

Great answer, Daniel. So discrete, LOL........Pop

You have any pictures of your bird's Pop? I can't remember ever seeing any of them, but have heard good things about you.

Daniel, I finally found a couple pics buried in an old file. The first one is a Brazilian X Shamo stag that I no longer have. He was a tough guy and a beauty, but went the way of all my crossed birds.

This one is a pure(?) Brazilian. His father was out of eggs directly from Brasil. He got his eye punched out when he sassed an old cock as a young stag, hence the name "Popeye". I seldome name a chicken, but this just seemed to fit. I still have him at almost 4 years old. He makes great babies and has a serious attitde from birth. I no longer have any Brazilian hens, so he`s going over 3 Thai pullets in the spring. He`s over 8 lbs. Sorry the pics aren`t better. These are all I have at present..........Pop
