You have any pictures of your bird's Pop? I can't remember ever seeing any of them, but have heard good things about you.

Daniel, I finally found a couple pics buried in an old file. The first one is a Brazilian X Shamo stag that I no longer have. He was a tough guy and a beauty, but went the way of all my crossed birds.

This one is a pure(?) Brazilian. His father was out of eggs directly from Brasil. He got his eye punched out when he sassed an old cock as a young stag, hence the name "Popeye". I seldome name a chicken, but this just seemed to fit. I still have him at almost 4 years old. He makes great babies and has a serious attitde from birth. I no longer have any Brazilian hens, so he`s going over 3 Thai pullets in the spring. He`s over 8 lbs. Sorry the pics aren`t better. These are all I have at present..........Pop

Good looking fowl, Pop! My Dad would love that brazilian stag.

Thanks. That`s a Brazilian hen . My last one and I lost her to a predator in GA. Never got any chicks from that mating. If you look close on the right side of the FL pic below, you will see the remains of another Brazilian hen. The story on this one is that the cat in the pic dug into the pen with her and her stag (her son). He went right by the hen, which had just gone broody and made off with the stag which was a full brother to the stag(Popeye, also her son) in the second pic above. Came back a few nights later, after I had made the pen more secure, and grabbed the hen, pulling her through the wire. I used the rest of her as bait and caught the devil. That left me with the two in the pic you asked about. Makes me sick looking at this pic, but at least I caught the cat.............Pop

Thanks Gallo & Chief. I`m in FL right now, but when I get back to GA, I`ll do my best to get one or two up to date pics of Popeye. He`s much more of a man now than he was in that pic. Perhaps one of the 3 Thai pullets also. They will be 6 mos. by then. Should be about the middle of Oct...........Pop

Hey Pop very nice birds, I think I mentioned one of my assel stags is one eyed from a brooder battle he runs complexly free range now with the yard fowl. After seen some of those crosses I was thinking of putting him with my Spanish game pullet (have to take some pic of the birds).

Did I see you are down in this neck of the woods? getting plenty of rain but that aint too bad.

I have some questions for those more knowledge full (not a short list by any means). My paki assels and the shamo treo that is in the pics are laying eggs pretty regularly probably averaging 6-8 from each pen. They have been segregated longer than a month and I have some eggs in the bator as well as some under some of my Spanish game yard mixes that seem to go broody about every 7th egg. Almost feels sinful to eat the eggs ha ha almost. I am not familiar with shamos or assels before now and don’t know if I should expect them to lay regularly or if these are some of the precious few eggs I will get from them, will they tend to go broody? Also what colors (I know that in game fowl color is a very superficial quality) should I expect the two hens are black. I am not really sure what color the stag is?
