Show Off Your Games!

so I got some purerena mills chick starter today it's only 18% pro. and medicated I wish they had a 20 to 24% pro. medicated with a littlie more fat in it like game starter back the pro. down to only 24% and medicate it but o well. I just put a bucket of game starter to 50lbs of medicated chick starter in a 55 gal. barrel. also got some duravet vit./electrolyte. I did 5tsp to 5 gal. bucket dose that sound good?. got some dried meal worms for the chicks to them things are 55% pro. and they love em maybe I will eat so also and get big muscles lol
I breed live meal worms... my chicks go crazy for them when they see them wriggling around... They also eat the wheat bran the worms live in (I have to add a little water to it tho). I feed the dead beetles to the adults.

Barley grass for the chickens.

PS - I have meal worms at different ages in different containers... the chicks eat only the smallest ones.. they cant swallow the full size meal, they just thrash them about and end up just leaving them on the ground.

My hatchlings consume entire large mealworms.

5 tsp. to 5 gal is just right. Yeah they need protein but fats as well. I was told by an advisor that starter with boiled egg mixed up with vitamin and electrolyte water blended into a slurry will bulk both chicks and adults up quick but I don't have the time to do that day after day. And it's always easier to slim them down than to add muscle. Basically keep them a lil heavy and if need be fast them down

We just got our Buff Orpington chicks today so excited!

yea I have ben giving my chicks boiled egg yolk every other day I wonder what the fat and pro. break down is on eggs I only give them the yolks

Sweet.. like I said, mine just thrash them about and play keep-away with them.  Do you use dried or live?

Live. Keep away only gets going once they are close to full.

I can have a cock penned and his hen with chicks out walking about on outside, then drop mealworms in with cock and he will pick mealworms up and carry them to side of pen where hen or chicks can take them. If I hold can of mealworms up and not poor them out then hen will fly up and take them out one at a time and drop them to chicks below if she cannot make me drop can. Some of same hens also can knock over feed buckets so chicks can get into it. Took a while to figure out chickens rather than dogs where doing that.

Way cool.. My cocks are friendly like that towards hen as well.... ladies first always.

I have one hen that figured out how to jump into the bucket... the rest just look into the bucket and pace back and forth not realizing that they can jump in, duh!. Probably a good test for selecting intelligent chickens. It would be interesting to see someone develop a breed just for intelligence.
