So just because my son was busy talking and talking that means I don't know anything at all about my chickens down here??? Ask him how many times he has left hens out because he can't count worth crap. 8 hens and 1 rooster and he can't count 8 hens.

Nothing at all like doing an evening check and finding 5 hens outside the coop because someone can't count. My way of counting them: 4 reds, 1 rooster, 2 GLW's and 2 odd balls.

I haven't left a single one out now in over 2 years of having my laying hens down here. But put my son in charge for the evening while I am busy at the big property and a few get left out. Wait until he has over 40 to count.:/ I have learned my lesson and now do a head count as soon as I get home in the evenings.
I am a busy person, and normally am busy figuring things out for my husband business, busy with things on my mind about the big property and where things are going to be done the next day. I don't have time to talk about my laying hens, since the only 2 there that are pure are the 2 GLW's that belong to my youngest daughter. And to top all that off when you came that day I had supper in the oven.
My life is an open book, always has been always will be. Just remember though that the one that was asking for help was you, and when folks out of the goodness of their heart give you something to help you, you should at least appreciate it. Even if you didn't really need the help, which by the sounds of it, you really didn't.
Your job now is to make your place predator proof.
