Show off your Old English Game Bantams!!

These are by far the sweetest chickens that I have too!! And I love their little sounds. Just melts my heart to walk into the pen and have them run to me instead of off to the opposite corner! Lol Unique little birds for sure. If they were more popular and sold better here, I could see myself having only pens of OEGBs in every color I could get ahold of! But they haven't been my best sellers, so I have to limit myself on them. :(

Or land on your head. Or back. Or shoulder. Or visitors! (By far the funniest!)

I can't imagine they would sell that great here either. I view them as...yard candy.

We eat their eggs. LF eggs go to relatives.

My original Duckwing pair, Olga and Mr. Olga.
I still have both. They hate me. They're both wild. Very, very wild. Olga's coming around though.

Mr & Ms. Peeperton.

One of the Creles and Mr. January. Olga offspring

With the Creles I got the guy in the middle.
A Crele/Silver Duckwing??

A few of May's hatch.
Some of Mr Peeperton's offspring.

And saving the best for last....Mr. Flash. He's my guy!

Mr. Flash is gorgeous! And Mr. Olga?? :D no wonder he doesn't like you :gig

It's funny, I have people come to see other birds and end up loving these guys, I think they just need more recognition. Or a better, more appealing name! :D

Wickedchicken6, I got pictures today.

The first one is my little girl Little Dove. I call her Dovey. She is a character. If I bend over, she is on my back. If I am standing by the roosts, she is on my head.

She is standing in my hand and at 4 months you can see how small she still is. I couldn't get her partridge feathered sister, Sparkle to stand still long enough to get a picture of her.

This is Oliver. He was supposed to be an Olive. Oh well. I really was hoping to have a cockerel hatch out of the 4 eggs.

His sire is a black but you can see the weird thing that is going on with his flight feathers. I've seen the sire. His comb and wattles had been dubbed and he is a nice looking little rooster.

This is a close up of Ollie's wing.

Lastly, this is Pepper. Once again, Pepper was supposed to be a pullet. Yeah, right, but not only can you see the weird thing going on with the flight feathers but you can also see the remnants of the leg feathering that he has going on. The young Amish man who gave me the eggs said that they had a Cochin rooster for awhile and are still seeing the leg feathering popping up from time to time.

You can see the same weird splitting going on in his flight feathers.

I have to admit that I can't imagine that Amish farmer having Silkies. I had to describe what a Cochin looked like to him. That ate that poor little guy.

I do know I plan to get a few more eggs from him and try to hatch them in my incubator then try to hatch some blacks later in the summer.

So any ideas as to what is behind the weird splitting?

@microchick I'm not sure what's going on there either, but that's a great closeup pic! I'm guessing its just because they are still young?

Pretty babies though!! :love

(they ate a cochin?!? a bantam cochin?? I can't imagine getting much meat out of one) :D

Yeah, they sure did. He said 'We butchered him and ya know he didn't have any meat on him at all!' I told them if they got their hands on another one for heaven's sake don't eat him, I'd buy him from them. One of the best birds I ever owned was a little Buff Cochin Bantam named Little Red. I loved that little character.

Thanks, they were in an unusually agreeable mood tonight. only Sparkle wouldn't cooperate. I've gone out of my way to handle all four of them though and outside of an occasional peck from Pepper (who hatched out as a white chick with pepper black spots on him) the boys have both been sweeties....so far. I'm working on getting them into a pen of their own along with my little Lavender O Buff O cross pullet who at 7 months only weighs about 2.5 pounds. Problem is that I have 6 extra roosters in their future pen and if I don't rehome the boys I'm afraid it's freezer camp for them.

Thank you.

I'm not surprised. They're SUCH sweeties!!!!!!! I haven't sold any of the birds I hatched last year so I haven't had responses yet.

The name's a little long but I'm ok with the name. Although have the word cutie or sweet would catch more attention.

In my mind, that's not what I was seeing.

Thank goodness for pics!

And like VW mentioned, that's a good pic!
I've never seen that. Perhaps it's hereditary?
And yes, he's definitely not a Silkie or the Silkie X in my mind either...lol. He's quite sleek.

Are they roosting with their sides next to a wall?
