Oh knows Sony has an action cam.. i love the Sony products i have, may have to look into that one the video comparison i found on you tube tells me it might better suit my needs.

I looked at all the action cams that are out and none of them are close to Go Pro. They are, in many cases, cheaper though.

Did you see the video comparison on youtube? that is what i am looking at, they do mount different i can see pros and cons of both,but i like the video quality of the sony and i am going to be walking with my peas and want clear video .

I am a die hard Sony guy. I actually had the Sony after the earlier version Hero. Sold it. I do know there is a new Sony version out, but I would be skeptical. Nothing that I looked at three months ago could compare to the Go Pro on video quality, availability of shooting modes, ease of remote operation or a number of other metrics. There are more mounts available for the Go Pro than the rest of the action cameras put together.

Yea there are more accessories with the gopro, i think i would only need the head mount gear, i have all kinds of tri pods and one will mount to my ATV if needed but i mainly want one that will take clear vids in the woods when walking with the birds, hoping to catch some good flight videos i see them fly every day and would so like to study their wing s at work.

We finely got a sunny day, ity has been raining and cold for a week and we got more comming so today is a treat for us all, i love cold sunny days rainy onces not so much.

Great video AugeredIn. Love your birds and Zaz yours too! I have just bought a brandnew GoProBlackHero3+ (exactly what you have) from Best Buy. So this is strictly for people when you first get one and no one to help you and you have to look on computer for educational vids and/or tech support. I had to have help to learn alot of it for dang sure. Matter of fact If I had not had a couple of friends that have them help me to get rolling on it I was so frustrated at it so much the first day I honestly would have taken it back. For the record my tech skills are considered to lower end of the road. I would score a 4 outta10 just guessing. Heres what no one tells you about trying to watch what you recorded on it. You dont just go shooting 1080 HD and expect to VIEW it with what they give you unless you have a MAC maybe.. I am in the process of ordering a HDMI cable so this will work for my samsung smart TV and Dell computer, You may have to get a FIRMWARE update so your recording(video) doesnt skip while trying to view it. BIG HINT: Your best bet is to set it on 760 (This is very clear almost like the 1080 setting BTW) as this will work on most peoples smart TVs or computers to watch what you recorded. It aint no walk in the park to begin with without help. Make no mistake about that. All my crap talk aside my tech friends and everyone else said the same as you. Go Pro is the way to go over sony.No doubt. The camera in itself is very very simple to use. The viewing afterward. NO! Im learning editing and whatnot as I speak but its a heck of alot easier to talk to someone that has had one for a while to solve this and especially these start up problems. Long story short. I do love the camera now. But sucks big time starting out for the average person! I have the rail mount and am getting the head mount later. Anything I miss here or anything you want to share Augeredin?

I am going to go with the sony action cam HDR-AS15 they have an AS30 but i like the video quality of the AS15 and i am going to get the wrist mounting remote where i can veiw what i am wanting to record.

My future son in law has a gopro3+ black addition and he travels around the world, he is in Africa now and i have yet to see a video , i am gonna have to get on to him when he comes home in January

I like that with a gopro you can make your smartphone a remote to view plus it comes with a remote ( not for viewing though)Can the sonys do that as well? Anyway they each have their ups and downs Zaz. If you can... see if you can talk to someone that has the Sony like you want. Thats always a big plus on whatever you decide to get. I mainly wanted a camera/casing that could take abuse pretty well and like to use it underwater alot since I fish for a living and for fun.
