I see Thor's crest is getting bigger.

Yes it is finally no hopefully it won't get plucked out.

Sorry. I mean: Yes Thor's crest is bigger. Hopefully now it won't get plucked out. Calypso can be very mean. She's trying to pick fights with all of my birds except Thor, for now. The older peafowl and the chickens. Good thing I have chicken wire between her and the older peafowl.

There is info at Louden Farms web page and maybe Leggs peafowl. They are pretty rare as of now I think...and debatable if a color like this should be bred because of possible health issues. But I agree, they are pretty!

These progressive have been bred for over 5 yrs and have had no problems that I have heard about. There will be some for sale at a auction the end of this month ?? maybe Mt hope.??? There is not many.. A lot of breeders shy away from them. Could not be any worse than Peach. The Experts might be able to explain why it happens. It just kinda pops up. Maybe it has too many white links... George

Can somebody help me out with identifying Spalding peachicks that are very young like 2 weeks or younger. Spalding chicks from what I've seen though I could be wrong is they will be darker the IB and their faces will have really yellow faces.

I hatched several spaldings last year and I didn't notice any more yellow on the faces. The spaldings do not breed true and therefore siblings can have differences in coloring. I did have 1 male who seemed a darker brown, but the rest didn't look any darker than IBs. I did notice a size difference they were a little bigger and it seemed they had a more upright stance, making them look taller than the non-spalding chicks. Here are 2 pics of Chirpy and Opie, Chirpie is a spalding and Opie is of course an opal, bot males. they were a couple days old in these pics but you can see the size difference.
