Show off your Peas!

I meant... how OLD are the younguns?
The toe pecker is patch and he was like 2 days old in that photo, he is still a toe pecker too.
He is my buddy for sure, follows me like a dog.

He tries so hard to ride on the tractor when it runs off with me

Wears himself out trying to keep up with me while i brush hog.

A tether is like a leash on a dog except it doesn't attach to the neck but to the leg. It makes it so a bird can't fly away from the handler. Attaches the bird to the handler.

We all know what a tether is and I don't think there is a single person here that thinks it's a good idea to tether peafowl. You should know this already, you did kill one by tethering it.

I can only use a tether for show. It has been working for me with this peahen without any problems.
It didn't work for the chick you tried it with and there is a good chance you will hurt your hen doing it. But hey, you're gonna do it your way no matter what anyone says, right? If she hurts herself, don't say you weren't warned.

Personally, I happen to like my Peacocks and care about them. I would not be caught dead showing them in a venue that insists they be restrained in a manner that can be mortally dangerous for them. These kind of "shows" are the reason the ASPCA came into being. Tethering is not safe, you have a dead peacock that proves this, if they will not take that into consideration and allow a harness, you should just walk away, because it is proof that they do not have any interest in learning about Peafowl. If ,on the other hand you are only interested in showing off your "Cool" bird and maybe getting a ribbon, by all means....tether away!

Ok, we know tethering is bad and you highly don't ever recommend anyone to use one. Do you think the harness (like the one Zaz talked about) is the best way to go in restraining a Peafowl? Or are there other less harmful ways of restraint?
