Show off your Peas!

Hi! I'm new to peafowl. Just got my first pair this week from KsKingBee. I've named them Pride (cock) and Prejudice (hen). Here's a pic of them. Pride is IB split to white or pied and Prejudice is IB. I'm super excited about having peafowl.
My pics aren't anything extra but I thought I'd share them anyway.
Welcome and congrats on a marvelous looking pair!

Thanks!!! I'm really enjoying them!!! They're gorgeous birds. I can hardly wait until my male grows his train! He's only 1 now tho so it'll be a little while. :)

Beautiful birds, congratulations!

Hope they don't grow into their names, though!

By the way, I see that you recently had a sick rooster that died?
Do you know what was wrong with him?
Just thought I should ask, as peas are very susceptible to many chicken ailments (or so I hear).

Just a few pics I took a couple days ago. I love my peas and happy that he displays around me all the time. Even though he doesn't have much to show off I'm glad to know I will see it often once he does! He is a bit over 2 yrs. I am excited to have a couple young whites coming mid September!

I don't know what he died from. :( his comb was blue and he was pretty slow and acted miserable. I'm treating all my birds as prevention and giving them an immune booster that I had on hand and none of them are showing any signs of being sick. They're all eating and running around like normal.:fl

Prairie Fleur, it was nice to meet you and welcome to the Peafowl forum! Congratulations upon entering the wonderful world of peafowl, you have a good start. Pride is a beautiful juvenile but he will be an outstanding adult. This coming year he will have even more color in his tail as it is already starting to show a little now. A lot of the joy of peas is in the changing seasons and the promise of new growth.

Now is a good time to start getting acquainted with them by setting in the pen and offering treats to them. I think the best time is just before feeding time when they are the hungriest and they will approach you for something they really like.

Read up on peafowl nutrition and get an understanding on what types of foods will enhance the feather growth and color. And always be on alert to subtle changes in their behavior, eating habits, and physical appearance for warning signs that there may be something popping up that you may have to address.

Well time to do chores, again welcome to the forum!

Congrats on getting some peas! Now you can show your peas and eventually be able to show us what those two hatch out next year! I got 36 ocelli feathers, 1 t feather, 9 sickle feathers.
