I have had 1 year olds lay for the last 3 years, they never layed very many and were always infertile cause they were a late hatch and by time they turned a year and my male had already dropped his train, well last year i kept peas to make trios to sell this year and i had a couple year olds lay and was able to hatch out 2 eggs from a 1 year old girl cause my males still had their trains.![]()
Do you think my pair (2 years old next spring I believe) will have any chance of hatching out any chicks next year? I wasn't planning on it because I didn't think it was possible but I'd love it if it were!!
it just depends on the peas and if the male is mature enough to mateo r want to mate, i had 4 18 mnth olds with thir first tarn and tons of hens here, not one of them ever tried to mate with any of the hens here young or older but that don't mean yours won't, like i a said it will depend on the peas
I will say this all of my 2 year olds that layed eggs were willing to sit a nest had i not kept pulling their clutch to stop them and the ones i let sit did hatch out young
Gorgeous birds by the way!!!!
