Ok that's kind of what I wondered.

Right now I have two two year old hens in with a trainless two year old boy and several yearling boys and I *am* getting fertile eggs from them, so it is possible.

I'm not really planning on getting pea chicks from them next year but it won't stop me from hoping!

The first pea chicks are always such a treat because if you raise your own from younguns it can be a long wait and if you get eggs or even chicks you got your prize early, kinda like getting to open a Christmas present before Christmas.
This was my first one, he came from the first egg i got last year, sadly it had a hole in it but the membrain was in tack, so i took some wood glue and toilet paper and made a patch over the hole, i also had to help him out of the shell cause the patch was very good TO GOOD i was so scared, here i was with my first peachcik fixen to hatch here and i was so unsure of when to help, but it turned out great and he is my buddy. And that is how patch got his name

Wowzers!! He's gorgeous!!! Maybe I'll he some hatching eggs next year if my hen goes broody. What happens if she starts laying and goes broody but none of the eggs are fertile. Will she eventually give up and just leave them or do you remove the eggs?
