Show off your Peas!

Turkeys are quite enjoyable to have around.

Our Turkey is the most affectionate bird we have, the most talkative as well. I guess she is about 9 &1/2 years old now, I've had her for 9 years and she was at a plant ready to be turned into Thanksgiving dinner when she escaped and ended up here.

Are you getting any clues as to sex on the 2 Whites? You should soon see a size difference if they are a pair, keep comparing them to the Pied and the BS since you know what they are. The little Pied girl is out of the LP/SP egg right? If so she is a Dark Pied and carries 2 copies of Pied, pair her with a White and you should get all Pieds or even a split White will get you some "louder" Pieds.
I am very, very excited! Yesterday I took a new kitten to a new vets office and the vet tech there agreed to check some Peacock Poo for me next time I'm in!

This is the first time any office closer than 1.5 hours away has agreed to even look at it! Who would have ever thought Bird Poo could end up being so important???

Besides size I have read here to look for 'wispy' feathers at the base of the tail for signs of being male. Is that a good indicator? I kind of hope not as I see them on most all my young birds even ones I now are hens. (Do we call them pullets? and cockerels?)

Congrats on finding someone to do fecal floats for you! Are they reasonable cost or did you ask? By looking at my vets equipment it looks like one of the most often used tools in the office.

Quote: Both of my BBW's are also the most affectionate birds I've had. Both follow me around like obese dogs and love pats on the head. I think mine will be four next spring.

Size wise, The BS is the huge one and the other three are about the same size, so I'm starting to think that both of the white ones are hens. The little pied is from the egg marked lp/sp.

Congrats on finding a vet office that will check poop!
