Show off your Peas!

I was laboring under the assumption that it was probably a split white as opposed to a pied. Many people, without a lot of exp. with genetics, see a couple white feathers and assume it means the bird is pied.

Well, you are probably right.... was thinking if we could see some of the pictures, someone could figure it out

But then, was wondering if there were other birds involved?

Agreed, pictures would help, and the other birds involved thought had crossed my mind as well. Plus with BS hens it is sometimes very hard to see splits to white, pied or WE because they are sort of speckled white all over anyway, I had one for 10 years before I discovered she was split pied.

Yes, my BS hen here has some kind of white/pied gene, not sure which. She has some white flights and white throat latch. That's why I was asking about the white crest feathers awhile back... she has ONE white crest feather, and I am still wondering if that is more typically seen in pied than in white splits. The flights and throat latch could indicate either one, I think, so can't tell till there are chicks... and may have trouble then, given what I have for breeding stock

He looks very happy.
Treats are the bomb they will go any where you want for cheese, bananas and peanuts in the shell .
Remember they will need worming at the end of the month ;)  I believe i sent you the info on that but if not let me know and i will get that to you.

You did tell me before & I printed the emails, but if I can't find them I will let you know. Thanks. The most common treats they get are grapes, cheese & bananas, & occasionally I throw in something different. I'm still working to expand their treat variety. You unintentionally answered my question about peanuts, thanks. :)

When my Dad and I see wild deer and turkeys together, the turkeys often like to flap around and fly at the deer to scare them away so that they can have all the food to themselves. We were wondering if peafowl do the same thing, or if they are more friendly about sharing space with a deer? I figure they seem like they are more friendly to deer.
Ours tolerate each other pretty well, it's the guineas that are funny to watch with the deer.

When they were small i cracked open their fresh peanuts as they got older i would crack them just enough where they could see the peanut and work it out of the shell when they got bigger most just ate shell and all, peanuts are easy to grow if you have room for them on high ground

Yea genetics confound me!

I am having a hard time downloading or copy and pasting with an iPhone. I had pictures on here of my boy, I think deer man told me he was silver pied? Miss that fellow so much.

What I meant was my yearling was just beginning to show that White Lightning was his poppa, momma was ib or possibly bs, sold him then looking at pics I realized he was no just IB like I thought as he was developing some different patterns as he grew up. And the guy lost them to a turkey flock they joined after he let them out. Lol. Let me try to find some pics.
