Show off your Peas!

That is not true

Which? The 'proof'' of being able to free range or that they have only a ten day memory?

That is really good news BB, I am very happy for you! I am still waiting for an IBBS cock to come home. He left with the migrating turkeys last spring, he had had enough of those **** guineas. A fellow I bought two IBBS chicks from last year told me about an imprinted pea he had that left for three years and came back. It had a favorite spot on the porch rail that it roosted on every night and day. When this bird came back it resumed its old habits like it never left. The guy had no idea of where it had been but thought someone had been keeping it penned and fed until it could escape.

Well the 10 day memory stuff is nonsense, I can't even imagine what the basis would be for making such an assertion.
And without knowing where the bird has been for 3 years, or however long it has been gone, much less how it has survived, seems like one would not be able to say there's proof of anything... except maybe it's the same bird and it looks pretty alive from the photos. Has it been penned by a well making stranger? Living off the land? Touring local ranches or neighborhoods? Skimming grain at a feed lot? Vacationing in Tahiti?
Without a gopro, we'll never know ;-)

All I know was the last time I saw him he was in our neighbor's horse grain area. He might have been going horse pasture to horse pasture because everybody around us has horses. Also it helps when there is a lovely tree line so he had a wide option of areas to perch.

I mean you take a peacock out of his place for 10 days and he goes on an other place .
Then you take it back on you place in free ranging ( of course ) he almost forget everything and other peacocks want to fight with him.

Peacocks live on the same place, a part is locked in a pen totally open ... no boards, the other part is free range. They know each other ... they see each other every day and very close . One day, you freedom everyone .... they fight!

They have more than a 10 day memory other wise my hens would not nest in the same place more than once

How long has he been gone? How often have you seen him?

He's been gone for three years. He flew off when he was a yearling. Last time I saw him was the beginning of this year in a horse's grain bucket eating the grain so I knew he was still alive but I just never thought now he would show up. After all he's 4 years old now so he's been ready to breed for a year now. Maybe it might be since Thora and Marshmallow calling may have brought him back. Hearing a male looking for a hen wouldn't attract him. Another thing I'm worried about is could he keep sticking around that Colbolt will keep trying to fight him and never breed Sage? I haven't seen any fighting yet just Colbolt pacing trying to find away to get to him.

Maybe my BSIB peacock will show up again. He disappeared a year ago with the other 5. They all came nk but he didn't!
