Show off your Peas!

Yeah D'artagnans train is cool. I have to drain the kiddie pools by every 4-5days max. I have drained the concrete one every 2-4 weeks.Although my friends that have similar sized ones may go up 2-3 months.(I just like it nice looking is why) I have a gradual slope that starts at 1ft and goes 21/2 deep at the other end. A 4inch drain pipe at the bottom right corner is where it drains under ground outside the fence. i just unscrew the end cap and it drains in 20 minutes. I have a well pump right outside the fence that fills it about that fast. I kinda wish I would have also put in an overflow pipe so when it rains really hard I wouldnt have to drain it a little before hand. But besides that I love it. We just plum forgot to add the overflow in our building excitement. All I have to do is hose the muck down the hole.Thats why that 4 in pipe is awesome. It took one full load in a single concrete truck. I figure at the bottom it is at least 5in deep and about 3 on the sides. And 2-3 in on the exposed rollover.Three of us did the work. We rented a bobcat. My friend Joey could drive it real good. Then he let me try.Let me just say its harder than he made it look.

probably spent about 1000 on the pond total.
Thanks for the info -- I think we might try to put one in this spring.

TerriLaChicks.....LOVE your avatar! It looks great. Sometimes a smaller photo isn't as nice as the big one but yours turned out lovely! I need to find one of mine that is as pretty.

Well it depends on what you mean by pet...Some of them if you hand raise them from an egg they will imprint on you and then you can pet them and they will follow you around, etc. If not then the usual is that the most you can do is hand feed them and that is about it for getting close (they do follow you sometimes though), but even then it is fun just to watch them. They are so beautiful and funny that I love keeping them. I think if they were not as fun to keep there would be a lot less people keeping them. They get very adicting too because there are so many different varities! I really love them, but my favorite one is the one I can pet. They are easy to care for. The only trouble is once you get some, you will be wanting more soon...Then more...And more.

Oh, you are not kidding! I haven't even brought my beauties home yet and I am already trying to make sure I have places to build more pens to add more and keep some sweeties that possibly hatch out! Just because I am starting with about 10 pair doesn't mean I don't want more and more and more!

Haha oh yeah...I told myself that I will just keep the breeder birds and sell the chicks, but so far I love all the chicks and want to keep them all! So not only would I need pens for breeding different varieties, but also even more pens to keep a few of the chicks. So far I have only given away two peafowl I have hatched out. Both were peahens. A lot of my chicks have been peahens, and I get more attached to the peacocks, but some of the peahens I want to keep especially the one that is a dark pied. I have plans to use her for breeding pieds.
