Show off your Peas!

Ugh!!! Trying to convince my dad to let me have a couple peachicks, but no they are too noisy. So instead he is getting a dozen guinea keets!!!!

I've never owned guineas but I saw a couple at a poultry show once and they were the noisiest birds I'd ever heard! Up til that point I'd considered getting a couple just to try them out because we have such a tick problem but at that moment all I could do is laugh at how ridiculously noisy they were and knew for sure I would never have them because my DH would kill me for it!! Lol!!

I think the Peas are the least noisy besides our ducks. Yes they make noise but it's not often enough or last a long time even when they are.

My ducks are so loud, but i guess pekins are the most vocal besides call ducks. And I guess if you don't have 20 than it wont be so loud either

Yes. I have 6 and 4 turkeys who are pretty loud too. (one tom)

In my opinion peafowl are quieter than a rooster depending on the circumstance. I have a free range peacock who is just as noisy as my rooster. While my penned peafowl that are in at least pairs are quieter than my rooster. My rooster is penned, crows day and night all year round. My penned peafowl only call during breeding season (April to August in Idaho) during the day. My free range peacock calls the same time my rooster crows.

So I have my Peahen that's been brooding 3 eggs for about 2 weeks and the 2 young peas that she had adopted are now 1 year old. Well I've noticed 1 of them has been sitting with her a lot. These are my whites and I'd swear they are both male but I'm really just still unsure.

They have both fanned since they were around 4 mos of age. 1 I noticed since spring has had that open mouth "panting" it does when fanning and the other not. My mature male started chasing 1 of them a lot after the hen started sitting and isn't around. He would chase it in circles and all over the yard but never caught it so I honestly don't know if he is attempting to mate it and it is a she or what!?!

Any ideas? I know I should post pics but what should I post specifically? Fanning, close up of tail/backsides? I thought I'd be able to tell by now. By the shape of the tail when fanning but I keep convincing myself they're both male and that 1 just has some broken tail feathers or something is why it looks more round.

Anyone have any good 1 year white male and female comparison pics?

I know the tail feathers of a male form a tear drop shape when fanning and a hen will have a circle shape when fanning. Also the tail coverts. Males have wispy tail coverts and hens have solid tail coverts. What I mean by solid is like my IB peahen. Wispy like the tail coverts of on my White peacock Ice.
Tail Coverts are solid

If you can zoom in near the tail feathers see how the tail covert feathers are wispy instead of solid.
