Show off your Peas!

I'm so sad, my pretty teenage peahen died sometime last night. I had an all day Girl Scout training, so i left early this morning. My daughter went outside to check on everyone at about 10am and found her completely covered in ants and she no longer had flesh on her head. Ants sure work fast. My husband baged her. I just got home and they informed me of the sad news. I looked in the bag and asks were still eating her. She was fine yesterday. Two weeks ago everyone had a sneeze to i gave them antibiotics and once they were over it i moved them outside. She was eating and drinking and still gaining weight. I'm just so sad.

this was just yesterday!

So sorry you lost her sounds like something got to her hats go inside the openings first and really rakes them a bit to get threw skin and feathers but if there is a wound they have easier access, just my observations from things my dogs kill when they get to close.

Yes, it is strange but Peggy slept on the ground when he was in the pen growing in his feathers. I think this had to do with his long ago broken leg, he's still fairly cautious about his landings, and about jumping down onto hard surfaces without a long runway. When he's free ranging he sleeps high in the trees!

I'm so jealous. All of these peacocks are so gorgeous, i haven't even gotten my first yet. I still have alot to learn before then. Not to mention i have to get my jubilee breeding pen up. Ugh! So so far!
