Oh I know! I'm sure if the neighbors saw me putting up those top rails they woulda laughed their butts off! I had to balance me and the rail and then use a ladder to hold the other side up and pray it was level! 8 feet tall is hard to work with being alone. I'll get my hubby to help put wire up...thank goodness I have him to use from time to time! finished it will be
30 ft long x 16 wide and 8ft tall. I'd like to replant the grass, but don't know if it'll come in enough before the peas get to it.

Do you have dogs to watch your place cause I don't see nothing but chicken wire on the ground and most critters can go right threw that.. sure hate to hear about fatalities cause folks thought chicken wire was going to stop hungry wild thangs

That was given to me free I may use it for the top. I have 1x2 wire that will go over 2x4 heavier wire on the bottom. Then I might just use the 1x2 wire on the top half. It's 12 gauge. It's worked for us the past 25 yrs on the property(I live in the house I grew up in). We don't have coyotes or raccoons around...we do have some skunks. We also line the bottom of the pen with rail road ties. Thanks for watching out for me though If you have any other suggestions on making my pen better, I do love the help!

I would be happy to donate a few (hundred) coons. I hate to have you miss the opportunity to deal with them. I suppose you don't have weasels either. Your pen looks great.

Thanks! No weasels. My grandparents have some on their ranch along with everything else...,they can hardly keep any chickens alive because of it! But where we live we're pretty lucky thank goodness! Knock on wood!

Now you no most of us folks here on BYC do not condone catch and release so you just dispatch them coons when you catch em

Sorry Guys, I must say any Critters caught around here get Dispatched, Other wise they keep coming back, or I relocate and then someone else wakes up with Dead birds.
