Show off your Peas!

Looks like a pretty hen to me!

That would be great is Sweet is a hen. Alot easier to introduce her to all the other birds. If she was a boy, it may be harder with the big tom turkey and the male guineas may act up for awhile. Plus I seem to come across more Peacocks than Peahens, so it will be easier to get her a mate later on if I wanted to.

Not a big fan of their look, they just look awkward to me, like a weeble wobble thats about to fall down, haha!  And I'm stubborn, know what I want blah blah hardheaded man yada yada therefore settle for nothing but woodys...:lau   Plus, once the rest of my pullets get up and laying, I won't need any more eggs, lol, got about 50 hens & pullets altogether.  I just was curious if there were disease issues like I was told.

There is if you have chickens , they can transmit Blackhead to the peafowel!

I would never introduce any woodys or mandarins to the area I have chickens. They would be confined to the flight pen only, unlike my call ducks which will not be introduced into the flight pen.

Can't remember who asked me if the pea's were using the dog house as shelter. I've seen them in it a few times but it seems to be their favorite roost, lol
.

I also took an old stainless hog feeder for nursery pigs out of the scrap pile and put it under the overhang of the doghouse to see if they would eat out of it and as I suspected they did. I'm going to build a sloped lid on it like a roof w/ overhang to keep feed dry and keep any droppings out if they perch on top. That way I can put it in the middle of the pen instead of under their sheltering overhang on the doghouse.

Great pictures q8peafowl!

I bought Joe.G's Bronze Blackshoulder Peacock yesterday. He is a bit rough looking for being caught and all. I may try getting some pictures of him later today.
