I don't know if it is because he molted and has grown in fresh new feathers or if it is the quality of fall sunlight, but Fred looks so blue this time of year he almost glows. He doesn't look like this the rest of the year, in the spring he looks much greener and over the winter the gold tones are really strong. I am leaning toward thinking it is the angle of the sun in the sky at different times of year.

Those beautiful iridescent colors and mosaic patterns is the reason why I love these birds so much, and their antics, they are so funny at times. Thanks for sharing!

A beautiful 60 degree fall day and everyone was taking advantage of it, we could get snow this weekend.




Chirpie has discovered shoelaces and will not leave them alone. Is this what eventually leads to foot molestation @casportpony ?
