Yes the green stuff is ryegrass. The ryegrass grows throughout winter and dies in the summer when it gets really hot outside.

Do you overseed the rye grass on your regular grasses in the fall, or does it just come up on its own?

I just overseed it, but I didn't plant the pen with a summer grass so I just bought a 50 pound sack of seeds, got a coffee can and scooped seeds into there and took that into the pen and scattered the seeds out with my hand. First I would cover all over, then go back with more seeds everywhere. By the time I was done the whole pen floor was creme colored from all of the seeds everywhere. The peafowl started eating the seeds, but there were too many seeds for them to really make any difference. This time I didn't rake the seeds at all. I just left them alone. I didn't fertilize the ground because the birds do a good job of that. Right now the grass isn't close to being mature. it is still short and thin. Eventually it gets tall, thick, and lush and really fills in. I usually throw out the seeds before a big rain though. like the day before a nice rain.

Yesterday was the first time i have ever seen the peas hide from something , it was a huge white dragon that buried a tree right by the feeding area.

even got the ducks scared





That girls wasn't afraid

They went to hide in the woods



Once the White dragon was outside the gate everyone got brave again



The white dragon left them a tree with no limbs

Patch kept his eye on the white dragon outside the fence while it lifted a man up to the top of the pole
