Show off your Peas!

I'll have to try that first lol before I resort to cutting
If this has been going on over a month and the meds you have given have not reduced this , then it has hardened and will not just go away on it's own IMO At least i have never heard of anyone getting a hard mass to go away with meds sense i have been learning about peafowl the last 5 years, plus i have never had this happen to any type of bird i have owned

If i took this bird to my vet even if he does not do peacocks i know he would recommend removing it if it has hardened, at this point there is a good chance the bird is blind in this eye now from all the continuous pressure on the eye which can inhibit blood flow to the eye. just sayen.

I know it is a scary thing to think we have to do surgery on our own birds but as their care taker we have to be ready for anything or be ready to take them to the vet and pay to have it done

I totally agree with everything Zaz said here. I will add that if the swelling is soft and mushy deep inside that an injection directly into the sinus may help. I have treated two turkeys with Tyan 200 that way with amazing results. I have an older peahen that has a small swelling for a long time, I had been hoping that her immune system would fight it off but it hasn't happened so I am going to inject her in the sinus today. She has never been in top condition ever since I got her. I had to give her shots last year, hence the limp from hurting her while catching her multiple times.

well ben super busy...got two more pheasants yesterday...and three peafowl here today in like three hours....so I cant wait...as for the elderly guy he wants to get ride of them all including his pheasants all at once or he doesn't want to get ride of any...then he decided to tell me there was blood on the back of the white peacock and it was missing some fingernails....so I had to say no...I just cant do it...I would love to get them but I don't think it would be a good choice...I located another breeder and I should be getting some ib pied for a great deal in march...hell be gone for feb so I have to wait until then...man I cant wait...also found out when I picked up the pheasants from a great breeder which has a lot of peafowl that he was looking for some as well....so I will find out the kinds that he would like and post on here and if anyone could help him that would be great...also found out from him that mr legg is the good ol mail man...and there was a couple of people that he sold birds to and when they arrived they weren't the requested birds...I just don't get people on y they would do things like that...never bought any birds from the site...but will surely keep that in mind...

Thanks everybody for helping it means a lot :D I think ik what I'm gonna do. Since I've never given him a shot actually into the area of swelling that's what I'll do first I'll give him a shot everyday for a week maybe and if that doesn't work I'll have to cut and hope for the best p.s I'll give him some cold and mucus medicene while I'm giving the shots. Thx again for all y'all's help!!!!!!!

Please be aware that Tylan can cause permanent tissue damage. I have heard of people injecting the area of swelling, but not sure they are using it for five days in the same spot... that seems problematic to me.

Again, if the material has dried up, the body lacks a sufficient mechanism for removing it. All those cold and mucous medicines on the market for humans tend to constrict blood flow or use other methods to dry up the fluids... in the case of your bird, you have dried stuff that needs to come out, not actively draining. I can't tell you whether using meds like that are even SAFE for your peafowl, and am wondering how on earth you plan to calculate dosages?

If you can take this bird back to the vet, I still think that's the smartest way to go, and likely to produce the best outcome for your bird.
