Show off your Peas!

Yeah, I watched the discussion. I know that the counsel you were given was in good intent, but reason tells me if an experienced big time breeder like Legg uses them it can be done right.
Hopkin's uses heated roosts too. He said you just have to be careful in the materials you use: http://www.hopkinslivestock.com/building_a_heated_roost.htm

I think that soon after my email with him about the heated roosts, the next UPA magazine had his heated roost article inside. I don't need a heated roost so I don't have experience in it so I can't say how safe it is or how much you should keep an eye on it, but it does work for large peafowl breeders.

I put this in the other thread, but here it is again:
Quote from Craig Hopkins: If anyone decides to do a heated roost, you might as well email Craig Hopkins or call him to make sure you do it the right way to prevent issues. Here is his contact info: http://www.hopkinslivestock.com/Contact Us.htm

This was the kind that I was going to use along with some thick plush carpet.

Don't they take like 50 days to hatch? I know this is peafowl but if u get that emu egg to hatch I want to see baby pictures!!!!!

Lol i think it's an emu egg. He's got 2-3 more weeks to go yet

Don't know much about hatching emus but read it will take 58 days to hatch, I hope at least one will hatch from these eggs, the powers went off two weeks ago for 8 hours maybe, and a few days later i forget to close the incubator door and it stayed opened for almost 4 hours
