Show off your Peas!

Not all from one male, that was a 120 pc. lot, I sold to someone for floral arrangements. They wanted all large eyes so I had to use feathers from several birds and include a dollar bill for scale so they could see that the eyes were big. Customers!!!!

1000

I have only one local floral store here in Idaho that loves my feathers. They told me they've never seen as good of quality feathers than mine. There was a reason why my feathers were the best, the floral shop had fake feathers and now they have real feathers. I was able to find a market here in ID. But I'm moving to SD and I hope I can find a good market especially with more peafowl and more varieties. I might just sell train sets or something not sure. I still got a lot of years before I choose.

48' x 48', telephone poles came in handy, glad I have more. Going to try metal rails instead of wood for the horizontal bracing, re-purposing junk laying around. We have all the netting and materials to finish this up quickly, (I hope).

Now all I need to do is figure out why DW keeps calling it a garden...

Sweet looks like a garden to me to You can fence the peas out LOL

He is beautiful, what will you pair him with?

He came with this Spaulding BS hen.

I also got a pair of Spaulding Purple BS who are also two year old, (and supposedly 75%)

So they are both going to be three next year, I have been thinking a lot about next years dance card and I am having a lot of 'but if I pair these or I could pair them...' I am thinking SweePea and her two sisters, all Purple hens who will be two next year and I have a couple of BS hens that will also be two, so that may be a pen full right there with seven hens and two cocks. I don't have great expectations about two year olds and three year olds, but practice makes better, right?

The real fun is going to be pairing the White Eyes and Silver Pieds.

Busy, busy, busy this summer!
I hatched out some interesting crosses of pea chicks.

This is a photo taken back in July. My, they have grown since then!

The one in front middle is a boy, now much heavier patterned out of my Purple Peacock, Jack and his lovely IB bride, Roche. I need more updated photos but so far no luck on any good ones. This boy makes me suspect the hen may be Purple and not IB.
Amazingly, the silver pied is out of my Buford Bronze Peacock, Hershey and one of his Opal WE hens. The hens have white throat latches but still I was flabbergasted at a silver pied out of that cross!
The other 3 are full siblings to the silver pied. Bronze over Opal.

Since this photo I have moved them off of shavings since it seems to bother their eyes. They are doing tons better on wire bottom cages.

So far I know I am keeping the silver pied above and I am keeping a purple daughter, full sister to the above male pea chick.

And I have one pea chick out of my Cameo peacock but I have no idea which hen was the mom.... the IBBS, the Bronze or the Peach. I suppose I should keep that one... huh?
