That is quite strange. : /

LiLzoo the first thing you need to get and keep on hand are those thermastats, they need to be replaced every couple years and it is the first thing to go or malfunction in an incubator , plus they corrode pretty easily if left wher it is damp at any time.
Just thought i would mention it in case you were not familiar with Baters like this.

You could test it out on your chicken eggs ya know.

The gentleman that restores them gave me a link to buy new ones. He said the old ones last forever but the new ones don't seem to last for long but at least they work on the old ones. He said it was good to have a couple on hand. I thought about hatching some chicken eggs, but then I'd have to supply heat to keep them a live during the winter months. I probably will set some chicken eggs in March to give it a test run before the peas start laying. Wish you were closer so we could fill that big thing up. I better not be counting my chicks before they are hatched, ha.. It was really depressing last year. Seems like the long time expert pea breeders have really good things to say about the old redwood incubators so I'm hoping this is my answer. Legg Peafowl Farm has an article written on his site. I am sure I will have some big disappointments still. I am a painter and like white and black cupboards and wood work, but think I will keep this original fix it up in case I ever give up the hatching business and want to sell it. I have thought though it would make one heck of a kitchen island with all those drawers. A woman never has enough junk drawers you know.

Herb Bread Recipe~

6 eggs - I used 5 duck eggs and 1 chicken egg - crumble up shells and all. I put the egg yolks/whites into a bowl and added several cups of warm water and wisked it all up.

Several scoops of layer pellets - use what ever brand you have available. I used Hi-Pro Layer Pellets

Scoop of Whole Oats

Handful of BOSS, Dog food, Oyster Shell, and several hand fulls of Corn Meal

Handful of herbs, your choice; I used Mint and Basil. I also picked some young, tender grass. Chop all these up finely, or you can just tear them a part w/ your hands

3 TBs. Brewers Yeast

Add the wet ingredients to the dry and stir with a wooden spoon until the pellets have absorbed all the water/eggs.

Place in a greased pan ( I used several different pans, a pound cake pan, small pie pan, etc) turn your oven on at 400 F, and let them bake 1.5 - 2 hours. Not sure how long I cooked mine.

I didn't want mine to turn out super hard, so I baked them until they were dry/crunchy/crumbly on the outside and warm and moist in the inside. Let them cool for about an hour (unless it's a freezing cold day, then you could serve it right out of the oven), then serve and stand back! Enjoy

Mixing up the dough

In the oven

Finished cakes, fresh and warm out of the oven! YUM

Inside..mmm

Close up of the outside

Homemade Herb Cake vs. Store bought Forage Cake...show down!

All MINE!! Splash Cochins chowing down on some Herb Cake

Waterfowl also enjoying some yummy cake

This pretty goose (Sebbie x Tufted Roman) allowed me to pet her today. Something none of them have ever let me do. She wasn't scared of me in the least. Isn't she a beauty? Throwing around name ideas...what would you suggest?

Hope you enjoyed

Sadly, there wasn't enough for the peachicks to have any. But never fear, I shall make them some tomorrow. I thoroughly enjoyed making these and am sure you will too.

ETA: While they were baking, everyone kept going through the kitchen and saying "Man, something smells really good in here!" If they only knew....

Thank you.

It's 10' x 10' x 6'. The panels are 6ft high. We used 4 panels. I think we payed about $130.00 for the whole setup (the run). We still need to put a top on it. The good thing about these panels is they are uber easy to take apart and set back up. In the future, when I add more panels I can expand my run to make it bigger, separate it, etc. Where are the pictures of your peachicks?
