Pigeon 4H had a pretty big resurgence in my county after quite a few years and I'm super glad I got joined up and as crazy about these birds as I did! I've got Damascenes, Birmingham Rollers and Muffed Chinese Owls


Marla; Dun coloured Muff Chinese Owl Hen, she decided to blow a lot of feathers before nesting this time around.


Piccione; Rec. Red Opal Birmingham Roller Cock, I love this dude and I'm super excited for his babies! His mate apparently likes to only lay 1 egg...


All of my Damascenes, parents are in the middle, Cock is the biggest, theres a more recent baby from them but he never likes to hold good for photos lol


And lastly my two most recent squabs, they're nearly 2 weeks old now but they were cuter as babies lol. I'm crossing my fingers for almonds (their dad is a spread almond) their feathers are coming in white so I'm super excited, the larger one even has two black "freckles" on him, one on his face and one on his neck <3

In a perfect world if all my pairs eggs hatch my flock should be increasing to 41 birds and counting. It has been a very productive year thus far.

Lol, I had two little yellow fuzzies born today as well (each from different parents). When they're babies, their hair doos look like Donald Trump's

I'll try to get some pics ASAP. Lots going on in my loft. Going to start training tosses with my 3 YBs that are old enough for it in about 3-4 weeks, and this next batch about a month after that. I got a really nice 12 bird aluminum toss cage for it. Really excited to use it.

@Hokum Coco is it okay the babies are in the middle where there is nothing under them but the bowl? Other nests I modified with ventilation holes and scratched up the slippery surface. Then I made sure there was some small bits covering the bottom. But this was my first one...

I noticed with the squabs in the nest bowls, eventually they will be sitting on about a half inch of poop lol. Not surprisingly, since it appears it is in their DNA to be poop ninjas, they seem eventually learn to point their butts over the side of the bowl and poop outside the bowl.

But to your question, I'm not entirely sure, I think they should be ok but you might just want to check them every day to make sure their legs are sitting underneath them properly so they don't get splayed. Most of my nests were made up pretty well with the tobacco stems, but I still check them every few days to make sure they don't have a leg off to the side too much.

I somehow missed this post at the time. What a relief when they learned to aim the poop outside the nest!!! I had already dumped one poopy nest and replaced it with a clean one, then added some pine shavings... then overnite they learned to keep their nest clean. Here they are yesterday...

Then I have this little guy I just banded this eve....

He is the only chick that lived from the nest with 3 eggs and 2 hens.

This is Pidove, an injured racing pigeon I found outside on my back yard yesterday, who... I think is more suited for work as a therapy bird than a racer due to how sweet she is. She constantly wants to be close to me and flies around looking for me if I leave the room, heck, if I perch her nearby, she'll flap on over onto my lap! She also likes to sleep on my hand and beaks at my fingers when hungry or just wanting more pets.

My dad's friend came over for a visit today and was amazed by how sweet Pidove was, even after she flew away from me to raid the chicken feed, after picking the things she liked out, she waddled her way back to me for cuddles.

I have been waiting for a reply from her owners but so far have heard nothing, so... I think Pidove might be staying with me.

These are my two fantail mutts (CF) there mum is a blue bar fantail (C) and dad is a blue checker homer (F). They don’t really have much of a fantail like my other two mutts (I will get pics later).

This is my most inbred bird A3B3C (dont know ring number) it’s dad is a white fantail mutt (ABC) who’s parents are a white fantail (C) hen and a red crossbred (AB), and it’s mum is one of my first A2B2’s who is a white bird with red specks around her neck and head and she has feathered legs. I have no idea what colour you would call it?

These two are A2B2H’s their parents are: The mum is one of my first inbred birds, she is white with a crest (A2B2). The dad is a white bodied bird who has grey wings and red bars, he also has a small beak (H). The one on the right was attacked by A3B3C’s dad (at least I think), it had a wound to it’s skull but is healing up nicely now, it also has something up with its eyes.

Also everyone else has some beautiful birds and great stories
