SHOW OFF YOUR YUM! Food Photography Thread

Oh my! That's hilarious! I know I should but but but umm I can't. Its way too early right now for me. I can't stand going to bed early! First of all I work late into the night and into early morning and second of all I can hardly force myself to go to sleep early even if I want to. Some nights I don't even go to bed, you know there isn't always time for sleeping.

Also I'm 1 hour behind your time so its not quite as late here where I am as it is where you are.

I consider going to bed at 12:30 going to bed early. Most nights I go to bed at 1:00 or 2:00 in the morning. That's normal for me. During canning season going to bed at 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning is early for me. Don't get much sleep during canning season, don't even go to bed a lot of nights.
We grow 2 acres of vegetable garden every year and also can a bunch of other things from other places. It takes a lot of work and time. Produce rots faster than you can keep up with it so you got to stay on top of things even if you got to stay up all night.

It says in the bible in Proverbs don't love sleep lest you come to poverty.

I guess I better go figure out what I'm going to make for breakfast now. I like to make it the night before so it's ready in the morning.
I am not a night owl!

I do have them in my Family though.

Working I would get 2 to 4 hours a night no more I get like 6 to 8 hours now I have a brand of melatonin the Son found for me no shellfish no Iron I take it no other sleep meds had close to 2 years taking sleeping pills some would give me nightmares other where no help Natrol is brand name .. Pan of oatmeal cooking on the stove

Aren’t you in ND? It was after eleven.
I agree with not getting to bed when canning. It’s a long process. I’m just glad I don’t have to use the stove in the basement.

Yes, I am in Beach, ND. I'm in the Mountain Time Zone.
What's wrong with using the stove in the basement?
Thankfully I have a stove in the basement and one upstairs, too. A lot of times I'll be canning in both spots at the same time. Makes things go slightly faster.

Currently making butter from fresh raw fermented cream! :)

Can you explain your process. I understand raw,,, but not familiar with fermented, and why not use fresh.
This is what my grandmother used in her day.

And tell me it is cow milk,,,,,,,,,, :drool:drool:drool
I can not handle any other animal milk:sick
My BFF when he served in Iraq , Second Gulf War, drank camel milk. I think I would have opted for seawater instead:th
I will eat any cheese:drool, as long as it came from cow milk:thumbsup

I give up on the first.
I don’t like the stairs to the basement. The clearing is 5’, and I’m not a midget.

First I separate the cream from the milk and then I let it ferment at room temperature. By fermenting it I mean I let it sit out and culture.

Fermentation is the chemical breakdown of a substance by bacteria, yeasts, or other microorganisms.

The reason I ferment it is because it better for you and it makes it easier to digest. The cream also turns into butter faster if you ferment it. The cream gets really thick when you ferment it.

Then after its fermented there is a few different ways you can turn it into butter. You can put it in a jar and shake it like crazy, you can mix it in a mixer, you can wisk it by hand, or you can put it in a high speed blender.
Usually I use the blender because it turns it really quickly, but sometimes its so thick that I have to do it by hand because the blender can't even blend it!

It is cream from cows milk so you have nothing to worry about!

So you would eat blue cheese too if it came from cows milk? I've never had it before but it looks like it would taste horrible.

Aww, I see. I'm not a midget for real, but sometimes I feel like one! :gigI'm only 5' 1" . Being so short makes it hard to reach things up high! I'm always teasing myself about how short I am! :celebrate

Nice Tip!

Sadly we do not have many houses with basements in California
