What's a tamale made of?

Rick Bayless is a Restaurant owner here in Chitown. He also has a TV program that I often do watch.

I have never made any, but do know that the main ingredient is Corn Masa. I see it at the Grocery store all the time, since I'm buying items in that category aisle.
The tamale made with Strawberry (the one I posted), tasted to me as simply some Corn Masa with some strawberry preserves mixed into the masa dough. Nothing to write home about
I have had real tamales from Mexican Restaurants, many times, made with pork, beef, or chicken. Pork being the leader of the pack for me.

Had this for dinner; Meatballs, pasta with spaghetti sauce, and Fresh Parmesan that you grate onto your food.

Had these finger sandies for lunch. I call them Bandits Mooooo Juice to drink.

Dinner; combo throw together. The Tamales are from a can. The GRRRRRAVI, is the liquid that tamales came in. It flavored the smashed, and fries, (baked in oven) a unique flavor

I put whipped cream cheese and two eggs on a blueberry bagel. I don't usually eat dairy because after a while I start getting reactions to it depending on what I eat, but I figure a few days won't hurt.
