We recently sold 3 of our six chest freezers. We are not raising beef anymore and have cut back on raising pork. Mostly to do with when Hurricane Irma took out our power grid for a solid week. Generator can only power so much. We finally sold the last of the 3 recently. Tire kickers wanted them for pennies and we weren't desperate to sell. Held out until we got what we were asking. Even though the ads stated price FIRM, everybody threw low ball offers at us. We kept them in pristine condition, well worth what we were asking. The proceeds went to feed/meds etc. When we were first married, we did not have money for a freezer and lived in a two bedroom apartment. We did get a freezer within 6 months though and have not been without one since!
We keep the 3 nicest ones. Only 2 are plugged in right now. Chest freezers bury and hide food. If you don't keep a clipboard with an inventory list, food gets wasted. Take something out- cross it out. Put something in-write it down. So simple but so important. My folks freezer has stuff in there from when Ronald Reagan was President
