I have not had pork hocks or feet in ages. My mother would occasionally make them. At that time some of them still had some hair on the skin. She would first run them over a flame to burn off any hair. If she missed,(things happen) then I remember getting that 5 o'clock shadow feeling on my tongue.
Yours look like the smoked variety. They should be pretty much hair free. Have you ever encountered what I mentioned above?

Yes! My mom would use the flame on the stove to burn them off. Every once in a while I get one with a few hairs still attached, even smoked.

Ham Steak / Saute' Onions-Peppers.
Served with home made baked beans. Heated up a portion of mixed veggies from the icebox.


Unsalted butter. Cooked/not browned (onions-peppers)


Broke into my "Freezer Stash" (baked bacon beans)

Rubbed Light Brown Sugar deep into the Beautiful Back yard Berkshire Ham Steak. 3/4' thick.
(Lazy H Farm exclusive)

As the Brown Sugar & Butter heats, it creates a caramel glaze. Lightly sprinkle sea salt and fresh cracked black peppercorn to taste.
(I love my husband)

An uncured and candied ham to die for.. OMG.. Just scoop a helping of bacon beans and veggies, then unbutton your button on you jeans.

You have to be 18 or older to be eligible to enter.
This contest is NOT BYC sponsored but APPROVED.

In the meanwhile, feel free to throw suggestions of the contest food theme!
As well as tagging your BYC friends to this post to help get the ball rolling. The more, the merrier.
Depending on the success of turn out, I would like to have several contests after this pilot contest.

recall that from when I was young no wonder Ma had flame on her cook stoves all those years did not lay eyes on a electric until I had the worst little studio apartment as a college kid with a hotplate
