show quality speckled sussex ??

Good news! I just got in contact with the SS breeder and they only had a few trees go down and a lot of limbs. No flooding, and all their animals made it fine. I am hoping to pick up my new SS flock this weekend. YAY!

Okay, I am posting a couple pictures of some of my SS from Ideal below. This is NOT a poke at Ideal because personally I love that hatchery. I hope they may be useful to show the differences with SOP chicks/birds and so others can see what they may be getting when ordering. These are not going to be SOP, but I like them. They are the friendliest little chicks I've ever had. I can whistle from 50 yards away and they will come running to me! In the first picture you can see the white in the wing. Some have two white feathers others have three. In the second picture you can not only see the some white in one of the chicks wings, but you can see the difference in the over all coloring. Some are darker, others lighter.

Now I also have a question about these birds. What is the chance that the white in the wings will become dark after they molt?

PS: The crate isn't their "housing," it is their jungle gym.

It is way too early to worry about any white in the wings..... WAIT until the juvie molt BEFORE passing judgment.
These feathers will fall out and the new ones will be the ones you can judge. My delawares are 16 weeks old and are in full blown juvie molt stage. There are white feathers EVERYWHERE! Juvie molt goes on until about 5 months of age.....

I want to Thank Walt (fowlman01), Don ( snowbird), and edgarmongold for visiting and offering their advice.
Whether it is from a Judge or a breeders point of view, the advice is seriously appreciated.

Don has been very gracious to get us started with our baby steps on the SS. There is NO WAY he could throw everything at us at one time or we would be spinning

It is great to see Walt and edgarmongold get involved with this thread.
