show quality speckled sussex ??

when u are choosing breeders weigh the eggs from your adult hens... not when they are pullets and use a gram scale not oz keep the biggest ones...
My girls lay a pale tinted egg, some are medium, some are a little bigger. Personally I really like large eggs. Just my personal opionion--

Does anyone know how to have the egg size increase in a population of SS?

Quote: I have noticed some variability between hens AND an individual hen can vary at times, usually very much the same, but some times odd sizes.

Should I trap nest to ID the hen laying the larger eggs ? Or trap nest all to be able to ID who's the mother? I only have one rooster right now.

Another question--with the increased interest in the speckled sussex is anyone importing the speckled variety like they are bringing in the other varieties like the coronation and the light, and others??

I looked over my 7 SS chicks to day and they are not growing nearly as fast as the light sussex chick I had last year.

I don't know, Arielle,.
Maybe check ans see ifa any Canadian breeders are coming down for Columbus, OH show in Nov. or Southern , OH in Oct. Easy for them to bring stock down.

eggs or stock.
Might as well ask around.
Best,
Karen
