Well i solved my proplem! i found an older syrophome incubator with no window and i just duck taped cardboard in the wholes and put 4 eggs in it! so hopefully it will work. I exchanged the four eggs for ones that werent SG because those are just to precious!!!

So...how do you tell the boy showgirls from the girl showgirls? I have only one showgirl that hatched about four months ago, so she is the only one I got. I say "she" but I don't know. She looks like a "she".

I don't know if it's a girl or boy yet. I will be keeping all these chicks so that I can build a Showgirl/Silkie flock. I won't know until they are almost grown if they are boys or girls.​
 
day 13 candle: of the fifteen out of thirty that i have left in the bator, seven have died and two are questionable. that leaves 6-8 that still have a week and lockdown to get through.

You do pretty much have to wait for streamers, larger combs, wattles, and/or crowing or laying. However, I find that most of the Showgirls reveal their gender quite a bit earlier than regular silkies. That being said, I had a beautiful blue Showgirl last year that I thought was female for quite some time because of the huge crest (which hid HIS wattles) until he started crowing. Unfortunately, his half brothers killed him not long after that--he was a "different" color from them.
