My 7 day old baby bobwhite quail has its mouth open and panting. I also hear crackling noises coming from its mouth. It’s been doing this for about 3 hours. It just drank and pooped. It was eating normally this morning. It’s still acting somewhat normal. Is it choking? Can I do something? What is this? No vets even close to me that deal with quail.
It’s 93 degrees in it’s brooder and 86 on the other side. It’s bedding is paper towels. It’s by itself. No other friends. It’s the only one that hatched out of 5 eggs. We had to break it out of the egg because it couldn’t hatch on its own. But has been fine ever since. It’s on baby game bird food right now.
I feed it mush food the first few days to keep it alive. Just the food with a tiny bit of water. I’m reading that could be bad now? Did that clog its nose or throat or something? It’s been on dry food since though.
So worried help.
