Sick hen

I keep grit in a container,my birds just eat whenever they need it,but if she has not been eating grit it might be a good idea to put some in her feed.
Ok thanks that is what I will do then..I'll keep everyone posted on how she is doing...thanks again to everyone for all your help..

Read these links for crop issues. The best time to check the crop is first thing in the morning to see its flat before she eats and drinks. You need to determine what she has. You could try the baking soda and water in the first link to see if it helps. She needs to be treated for worms with meds like Safeguard. These also can slow crops down from emptying as well as tumors and reproductive issues. Many things can cause crop issues. I have used Fluconozole to treat sour crop. First you need to know what your dealing with. Theres lots of good info on the internet as well as this site.

I have recently wormed all the chickens. I read on here that someone used Kefir for sour crop so I ran to the grocery store and got some and have given it to her by syringe. I have also been massaging her crop. Since she is in my spare bedroom will be able to watch her closely should I take all the regular chicken feed out of the cage for tonight?

Same as Safeguard. Thats good, rules out worms.

I'll be watching her off and on all evening so will keep puttinh posts on here if any changes. Thanks for helping me out...

Update on my hen..she is eating some feed and some scrabbled egg. Still not pooping much. Crop almost went all the way down last night. Still giving her Kerif and started probiotics in her water. Since I don't know for sure if she just has sour crop or egg bound. Just treating her for sour crop. Worried if no antibiotics are given she will get an infection if she was egg bound but wont this make her sour crop worse??? Please reply if anyone can give me some ideas..Thanks in advance!!!
