I have a female pekin for about two months. This morning she was not walking right so i began giving her niacin in food and water right away. she also had two broken blood feathers which i pulled out and cleaned up for her most likely from my male pekin trying to mate? i’m not sure. but she still is unable to walk and won’t eat any of her food. i even tried giving yogurt and a crushed up boiled egg and still nothing. she is also constantly breathing through her mouth but her nostrils are completely clear. she is also pooping a very pale bright green.

Does she have any scab looking things on her feet, because if so it could be bumblefoot, which hurts when they walk. It also makes them lose appetite. The breathing through the mouth thing could be from the pain from bumblefoot if she has it.

Anorexia, heavy breathing, abnormal feces, are all good signs that your bird is probably in critical condition and needs to be taken care of. Could you post a picture of her, and her poop? What is she being fed, did she stop walking abruptly, how old is she, has she been laying eggs recently? Is a vet an option?

i looked at her feet and they’re find, she doesn’t have anything showing bumblefoot saw gwu up o

this is her. she’s being fed purina flock raise grain since she is only two months old. she hasn’t layed any eggs yet and her not walking just started this morning. she tries to walk but wobbles and always stumbles over as if she’s drunk. i’m keeping her in my room along with my ducklings since that seems to make her happy. but because she began stumbling and rolling over randomly i put her in a storage bin where she’s just been laying down.

this would make a lot of sense, my stepdad just finished putting up a pool in our yard on the side that my ducks have blocked off for them so it’s very possible they could have found a lose screw or staple. i’ll be grabbing activated charcoal tomorrow for her but i’m hoping that it’s not too late to be treated. if she’s not better tomorrow night i’ll be taking her to a vet. thank you for your help!

i also believe she’s been having seizures. she vigorously shakes her head and flips over and then is calm again. she also keeps swinging her head around in slow circles.

thank you everyone for your help, but unfortunately she passed this morning when i went to pick her up and take her to see her brother one last time. she did have hardware disease from the current extermination we had in our back yard and the company who did it for us will be getting a lot said from me and my mom due to them saying she’d be perfectly fine. thank you everyone for your help.
