Hi, I’m new to chickens and appreciate any advice. My hen is lethargic past few days. Sitting, slow walking, eyes closed, droopy head at times. Her nostrils are whitish, not black as they used to be. I separated her.
She drank & ate a bit. Walked some & is sleeping again now. She had poo stuck on her, now removed. Vent looks normal. Can you offer advice to help my girl Flash? Thank-you!

If you have pictures, that's may help. Has she laid an egg recently?
I'll tag some people who may be able to help.

I'm sorry about your hen, can you post some photos?
How old is she?
If she is of laying age, when did she last lay an egg?

Thanks. Flash is 1 year old. She is laying as usual. Last egg within the past week...probably days. Hard to know precisely as I have 2 others laying too.
I posted photos. Will try again.
Thank-you

I’m having problems getting her photos up. I’ll try again tomorrow. I appreciate your help

Here's a tutorial that shows you how to post photos on BYC

I would feel her abdomen for bloat/swelling or fluid, check inside the vent for an egg and feel her crop first thing in the morning to make sure it's emptied.

You mention her nostrils are whitish and they should be black - does she have mucous or could it be dirt/dried food?

If possible take a sample of her poop to your vet for testing.

Flash appears fully recovered, yay!- from her severe infection (sky high white blood count.) Giving her 2 ml liquid antibiotics twice daily was a challenge. Recommendation was to give it 1 or 2 drops at a time to prevent lung respiration. What an exhausting struggle for us both. Initially I tried injecting grapes, which Flash loves. That worked twice.
Currently she’s back with her little flock, happy and healthy. I’ve included an “after” pic. Thanks for your support!
