SIGN UPS: "Blocks of Hope" Granny Square Swap (Cancer Awareness)

My 1st square! Can't decide if I like it like that, or if I should put 3 more little ribbons, one on each corner.

The newest idea...
And just so everyone knows, this pattern should be pretty easy to follow and use as a template. It is 24 chains and I used a double crochet. You can hopefully count the stitches. You can do single stitches by following the pattern, only including 2 rows of sc for every one row of the dc, only it is more difficult to see the ribbon clearly. Where I chained, you can easily puff stitch, popcorn stitch, etc...! It turned out to be exactly 8"x8" using a G hook...

Can I join?

Does anyone have experience with LLama yarn? Specifically Baby LLama yarn by Elsebeth Lavold ? I'm looking for a LLama yarn that is soft for a babies hat.

I'm back to work part time and have been busy with chickens and gardening. It's hard to keep up with all the threads I like. I'm looking for LLama yarn to make a baby skull type hat to go with the book LLama LLama night night for my future grandson. I'm gong to modify a pattern and put on Llama ears. It's one I have that is fruit.

I've also been making jams to restock. I like to do unusual ones like Plum lime, Sweet Cherry /blue berry and Gooseberry. The freezer is full of berries.

I confess to being a little insecure being the only guy. The woman that hosted our Church squares passed away a few months ago. She was 80 but very nice. I've known her for nearly 40 yrs.

Glad your abscense has been just being busy. Those jams sound amazing. I almost never make jams b/c I am allergic to wheat so eat almost no bread or bread products ever (gluten free bread products are not easy to find in my area and VERY pricey) it is hard to eat jam if you don't eat bread. I am just learning to make wine and hopefully will get skilled enough to do things like that w/ wine. (maybe even great salad vinegars)

I believe you have to give up you title of "only guy" on this one, if I read a previous post correctly acemario is a guy too.

A llama hat is going to demand pics you know. Do you have a source for the yarn? I would think the care would be similar to wool, only gentle hand washing.

Welcome back Rancher! I will get you added to the list. I'm sorry to hear about your friend from Church, I hope she went without pain.

I was up most of the night last night, my grandmother had to have a transfusion last week and was feeling pretty sick all night. Hopefully she will be feeling better tomorrow because she's got her final round of Chemo starting Monday. I've been dealing with a lot with the animals the last few days here too. We had to put one of the goats down(old age) and the same day I found my favorite girl down in their shed, I'm not sure what happened but it happened extremely fast and was nearly gone when I found her. she too had to be put down. :( The rescue goat I had left for a goat farm/sanctuary this morning, im hoping they'll be able to have a mastectomy done on her so she can live on to be someones spoiled pet. Then this afternoon I went to the coop to find the new Roo hiding in one of the nest boxes, all beat up. He must have been being pretty nasty with the girls or something because my Wyandotte Roo is very passive with the other 4 roosters we have but this poor guy really got put in his place. Good news is he's okay and about 100% friendlier after his bath and inspection to make sure he didn't have any serious injuries..... hate to say it but I think my roo may have done him a favor, we were considering getting rid of him if he didn't calm down.

With all that Ive been kinda slow working on squares, I still only have 2 finished. I did get my Dark Orchid for the borders yesterday though.
