Silence Is Not Golden Here

Hah! Sounds like a wild grape variety (according to the interwebs) which sounds neat! I put in hardy kiwi this year and I'd like to add grapes within the next couple years for sure!

That's pretty much exactly what it is. I had a make and female hardy kiwi for about 5 years and never got fruit. I got rid of them and then after seeing them for sale again I did more research and read they can take several years to mature enough to produce fruit and I regretted pulling mine immediate!

I don't know how I missed this comment... sorry. But seriously though! Don't they have a sound that is all their own? At least it's nothing like any of my other chickens! When I first heard it I thought.. hold on... this isn't what I signed up for. People should warn you about this when you get a d'uccle!

Totally agree. The unfortunate thing for me is that the Silkies then try to out yell the D'Uccles (or perhaps they are yelling at them?). So it can get seriously loud out there. Luckily my one neighbor grew up on a chicken farm and doesn't mind them at all and the other neighbor has two hounds that can drown out a chicken screech any time.

You know what they say... "can't put a price on good neighbors or good hounds."

Actually I think I made that up but I like it and it's true.
