Silkie Breeders--I Need Advice

We have the opportunity to buy a cuckoo cockerel. The only problem I have is that he developed the single cochin comb. Is this something I need to avoid to improve the silkie qualities?

If you are trying to breed to the silkie standard, I would avoid the single comb. That is a disqualification according to the Standard of Perfection. Unfortunately he will probably pass that gene on to his offspring. Sorry

That is what I was worried about. I guess another dumb question. I know cuckoo was started with a silkie and a barred cochin. I know it starts somewhere. Can that comb not be bred out of it?
