Silkie breeding, genetics & showing

Thanks! I am beyond happy! She wasn't looking her best either (couldn't get rid of some pin feathers on her head), so I can't imagine what might have happened I she was!
I can't believe I did not check in to meet those of you who went to the Newnan show. I had a blast....the meet and greet with the Silkie Association was so much fun and everyone went out of their way to introduce themselves. One woman from Canada...Barb..can't remember her last name, was so much fun to talk to. I hated that Judy King is having to sell all her silkies. My little self blue took 1st in the pullets! I think she enjoyed it. My buff took 5th...she had 2 white feathers in her wing. I did not even notice! But I was pleased with this being the first really big show I have attended.
Dweeb...the lady in the blue shirt in your last pic is Sherry Humpheries...she took A LOT of ribbons and plaques too. She was really nice and answered a lot of questions for me.
Here is my little Lilac

Here is the Silkie Association booth. My DH won the 50/50 raffle!!

I bought a beautiful paint hen and a black split to self blue hen from Chowsdown Farm and 28 eggs from her flocks...I am so excited!!
I wish we had big shows like this in our area. We do have one fairly good sized one in Newport TN...usually around 1000 entries.

Thanks for sharing pics from the show! So fun!!

At the last show I attended a lot of people put locks on the cages and removed them just before the judging started. After the show i heard that some birds were stolen out of the sales area. Sad but it seems necessary to lock them up.
One of her Silkies got stolen?! Wow... That is really scary. I will think twice about leaving Diana cooped overnight now.

My understanding is that Judy thinks she just got out of her cage and out of the trailer door. She doesnt think at this point she was stolen but maybe found and picked up wandering by someone outside the trailer. Hopefully they will see something online and realize she is being looked for and who she belongs to. She wasnt in the show area...

Many congratulations! Your girl is just beautiful! I am focused on self-blue right now and loved seeing your girl. :)

Moomoodiddy,
Thank you! I didn't mean to take topic away from gorgeous TN show birds. I hope to have birds like that. I am starting my flock from eggs so it will a slow ride but so much fun hatching!
