Silkie breeding, genetics & showing

Do you think Monday would be long enough?
I would say so, if no progress has been made up to that point. Hoping for the best

what kind of chick is it supposed to be?

For anyone with an iPhone, there is a nice free app called iHatch that tracks hatches for you. It has day by day graphics depicting the growth of the embryo, along with a description of what is transpiring daily. My daughter and I like this app quite a bit...its fun and helpful to keep track of the hatches. The app also allows us to add reminders.

This thread is about silkie breeding and genetics right? =) Anyone?
I had a chick that looked like a silver partridge and grew up to look like this. It doesn't look like the pictures of silver partridge roosters that i've seen. Is this just leakage? I plan to sell this guy and another that looks just like him with gold in the same places that he has silver. I want to know exactly what I've got first. Thanks!

Thank you! I'm going to download it now. I'm working on my first hatches, so I can use all the help I can get!

I don't know the answer to your question, but I hope someone does bc I have a chick that looks ALOT like him! I'll try to get some pictures...

I have read that you can use a black with silver leakage with a grey hen if you don't have a grey roo. You can also use him with aa partridge hen to get grey chicks. The grey chicks will all be girls. You can then breed the chicks back to dad to start a line of greys. I'm sure someone will correct me if I didn't get that correct. But that is what I've read. :) So your rooster could be useful :)

nope, but it JUST turned day 21 so i'll give it until monday
I had eggs last year that hatched 2 or 3 days late. I had them under a hen and she ended up with 6 or 7 chicks if I remember right and left the last three eggs. I put those in the incubator and they hatched a couple days later.

My boss was ready to throw them, she was convinced they were infertile. I had candled everything and I knew there were chicks in there. I couldn't tell the difference if they were dead or alive, so I gave it a shot and I guess it worked out for those chicks.
