I know that silkie chicks are more difficult to figure out the gender, but about how long do I have to wait until I will be able to tell? Picture of one of my newest flock members, A naked neck partridge silky named noodle.
I'm not very familiar with naked necks but regular silkies can be a nightmare to sex. Sometimes it's up to sex months before visible feather differences allow them to be sexed. On the other hand some silkies can be sexed as early as 6 to 8 weeks. Silkies that conform more to show standards tend to be harder to sex whereas 'pet quality' or hatchery silkies tend to be easier.
