I've got 2 silkie chicks one is 14 weeks (Pinky) one is 7 weeks old (Brain)
I'm wondering when you guys usually start to see comb and streamer growth in your roosters to help me determine if I have boys or girls. Pinky has no comb growth along its beak it is completely smooth. While Brain is still very smooth but there is a very slight bump that you cant really see just feel

We started noticing little things first like, posture. We noticed that our rooster kinda stood up a little higher than the rest. Then, the behavioral signs; signs such as "rounding the troops" and of course the normal pecking order stuff. We started seeing streamers around 3-4 months... then the crowing about 2-3 weeks later.

@Jonandashley The third black one looks like a cockerel to me. Same with the white. The first one I'm not sure about.

Thank you for your feedback. We read somewhere that even if the black one is a rooster that he would be a late-bloomer because the white one is already the established dominanat male. Guess we'll have to wait and see for now

View attachment 1703579 Some more updates. No crowing but pinky seems to be nesting, and brain is still chirping like a chick. Pinky is about 21 weeks and brain is about 14 weeks old.

I think the one that has spiky feathers all over may be a cockerel. I'm not certain, however, so perhaps post some more pics later. The other is a pullet.
