Silkie Hatch-A-Long

[KV Silkies]

Late in joining here but I was very excited to have our first hatch of Silkies and Showgirls today 3-19~National Poultry Day. How appropriate!

I don't believe that I can post photos here but I have two quick snaps in my gallery but will try. 1-4 Silkies, 5&6 Showgirls Any thoughts on colors? I've not been able to find a color reference other than for adults.

sooo cute! I am no help on color, sorry..... I have several chicks, but am eagerly awaiting time to tell me what color they are all going to be as well, as well as hen/roo!!!

I'm not home still, but just got off the phone with my dad and he said there are no chicks yet, but their was an egg out from under her and he put it back. said there were no "cracks"

By the way to all of you silkie lovers..I have a white silkie roo that I am trying to get rid of if anyone is interested

Well, we have 6 additions today-1 from Kentucky and 5 from Georgia. Out of my 6 White Silkie eggs that I ordered; I have 1 Silkie and 4 Showgirls and none look white to me. LOL LOL They look to be gray or ivory/buff. Maybe when they're fully dry the color will look different. My daughter is thrilled because she wanted A Showgirl and between the two sets of eggs; we now have an even split. They are adorable--photos tomorrow.

Ok, we'll see if we get any takers, I set 28 silkie eggs on 02/06, did a 5 day candle last night and 19 viable!!!    sooo excited!!!  Anyone else out there setting silkie eggs or getting close to hatch?

I have six silkie eggs under my broody. I have only had chickens for almost a year and these are my first hatch. Love keeping them and mine are so friendly, don't know if that's the same with all silkies? Chicks are due in 5 days and I can't wait!! So exciting!! Good luck with your hatching
