Poof is a big girl, she's almost the same size of her big daddy SnuggleBug. Going to do an updated father daughter picture tomorrow if I can get too it.

Next hatch of Silkies I'll share what to look for when feather sexing. Would you like that?

Sexing silkies is a little different. I use both primaries, & covert wing feathers for sexing. Since both males, & females will have will have an even row of feather buds, but the coverts on the female will appear a little shorter then the budding primaries. We do know how to feather sex, you go off the primary feather growth (at least we did for our other breeds). Unless it's something else for Silkies?
I know you can sex off beak shape but that's when they're a few months old (plus it's more difficult to do).
I currently have chicks that are almost 4 weeks old, chicks that are 2 weeks old and chicks that are 5 days old. Such a mixture of ages
Awesome!
She was 12 weeks in that photo. She's now about 4 maybe 5 months old.Wow she's getting big!
She's definitely grown since the last photo![]()
I think I cloned my SnuggleBug.View attachment 1877811 Calling him, MiniBug.View attachment 1877813 SnuggleBug at the same age as MiniBug.
It's funny how father, & son looks so much alike.Haha they definitely look the same! So similar, the name definitely suits then
I managed to sell two of my white chicks today, I'm glad because they're getting to cramped in the brooder and stomping on the youngest ones. I've sold them cheaper than I originally wanted to but I need to get rid of some sooner rather than later!
I've sold two for £15 together.
