Silkie Processing Video - WARNING

Respect is giving the bird a good life.
Respect is giving the bird a quick painless death.
Respect is doing your best not to waste anything.

We joke around a lot while processing. The truth to it is
it makes it easier to deal with.

You are welcome to join us and see the whole thing in context,
not a few minute video.

Got it.

Our birds don't seem to move around as much as the ones you've killed do. We don't decapitate though. Maybe thats the difference,

very intresting. i couldn't watch much of the part 3, because of the dog barking was driving me nuts. i would have taken a hatchet to the dog. i will try a little later with the sound off.
thanks for putting these vids on for us. i opened my eggs that didn't hatch after michagin put her pics on. didn't think i could do it before, i saw, what i was in for. i started to watch your first video. when drumstick had the chicken over his head and was going to enjoy killing it so much it bothered me. so i stopped. but then i read some comments and figured it may help me. so i watched it and it really wasn't that bad.
like i said, thanks for putting them on for us. they really are a great help.

Do you use cones?

We chop the heads because I really don't have the stomach to
slice the necks. I'm afraid I'll mess up.

I'm glad my vids can help and I wanted to take a hatchet to the dog too.
PerfectlyPolish would have taken a hatchet to me if I touched that yappy
dog.

As for Drumstick he really isn't eager to kill. I know it looks that way.
He just gets SO EXCITED that he doesn't really think much and he is
eager to be involved. I think he is also trying to impress everyone of
how he knows how to slaughter a bird. What people don't see are the
tears when he is digging a hole to bury birds we lose or when he
is holding back the tears telling me he accidentally let a quail fly away.

We break their necks and lay them down on the ground. No flapping, they just kinda squirm a little bit for about a minute. No big deal at all. We stack up about 4 at a time and then get to cuttin um up. Works well for us.
