We might go back to the races next weekend if he enters his horse again. He apparently hates running on the turf, so he was supposed to be running on dirt yesterday but somehow he ended up entered in a turf race. He never even ran, he just galloped the whole way, interestingly, he was behind but the pack didn't completely pull away from him. Next race will be on dirt. His last race was on dirt and he got third. His sire won the Belmont and his brother won the Kentucky Derby, and here he is loosing a low $ claiming race

somebody needs to tell him how good he's supposed to be

last year my sister in law and I gave another of his horses a pep talk before the race, he won. I think this is the secret
The flocks are doing well, the two little cockerels are settled in to their new digs, my 5 freeloaders that I haven't been able to muster the will to send to freezer camp are still looking good but maybe getting close to molting, which them I'm assuming you don't want to butcher during a molt... they might be extending their time here for a few months

if I can ever get the guts to actually butcher them... ugh.
I got a few thin shelled eggs last week, two girls seemed to have some issues, not feeling themselves, laying around more and one had a big squishy crop. They got calcium pills, D3, and the squishy crop one got probiotics. I had bought one bag of hearty hen instead of thr feather fixer or regular 16% layer pellets, we have HORRIBLE grain mites, so I've been going to multiple stores trying to find the least infested bag and only buying one at a time. So maybe they really didn't handle the 1 oddball bag of feed. Lesson learned, back to feather fixer. They all seem back to normal now thankfully.
The pullets are on Purina and I have their feed under their coop instead of in the shop. For some reason the Purina bags don't have mites, I'm not sure if this is a good sign or not... good that the feed doesn't have them, nit have they treated their packaging with something or added something to the feed to stop them? Not sure. Everyone else is on Nutrena Naturewise feed.
Fizzy is out and about cruising, I haven't tried to feed yet so we've been avoiding eachother so far this morning. The little chick that I tried to straighten it's toe, it's still not walking on it and it is completely bent under its foot again. It's eating and drinking so I'm just leaving it alone.
I also think I made a mistake on the colors of two chicks. The one has brown and is chipmunk striped, so I just assumed it was from the chocolate rooster. Then another chick is white with a few dots, I just assumed that was splash. I've even googled photos of splash chicks and nothing registered. I think the "splash" is actually a paint, which means my brown chipmunk is from the BBS pen and will probably turn blue? Maybe?
